Press release: Council takes action on Recreational Marihuana
For Immediate Release – April 17, 2019
Oxford, Michigan – During a combined meeting of the Village Council and the Village of Oxford Planning Commission on Tuesday, April 16, 2019, the Oxford Village Council took action on the new Michigan Regulation and Taxation of Marihuana Act (MRTMA).
Council established a six-month moratorium on commercial Marihuana uses within the Village of Oxford. The Council directed the Planning Commission to draft a framework of an ordinance that would regulate the time, place and manner in which any of the uses can operate in the Village once the State approves any licenses. During this process, a town hall discussion will be hosted to hear public comment, with a date and time to be announced. The Planning Commission will determine what, if any, commercial uses of recreational Marihuana will be permitted. This is an ongoing process, and additional updates will be made throughout the process.
