Village and DDA get grant for streetscape

The Michigan Department of Transportation will implement a streetscape project on behalf of the Village of Oxford on M-24 / Washington Street from
1st Street to Minnetonka Drive. The streetscape project will be incorporated into an MDOT road reconstruction project. The goal of the streetscape
project is to improve pedestrian safety and walkability through the addition of some traffic-calming elements. Project elements include the installation
of new street trees, planters, benches, bike racks, trash receptacles, street furniture and upgraded crosswalks. The construction budget is $921,267
with $617,249 in federal funds. Local match of $304,018 will be provided by the Village of Oxford. The project includes $146,340 in non-participating
costs for the installation of an irrigation system, parking spots, gateway signage, hanging baskets, streetlight banner arms and decorative lighting.
